Loan Company Scams! Cash Finance Direct
Recently I applied for a loan - not to clear debts or ‘lower my monthly repayments’ but for a business venture I have going. And ever since then, I have been phoned, text’ed and e-mailed numerous times - with calls ranging from “We understand you have £xxxx debt, and we could lower your monthly repayments” … That “£xxxx debt” has ranged up to £15,000 (!!!) . I don’t actually have debt at all, so this was laughable! But, I got another one tonight that particularly ticked me off - especially as I’ve noticed many other people do fall for this…

I was called by a company called "Cash Finance Direct" on 09056763191 (090 567 63191 / 09056 763191).
The person who called claimed that one of their loan companies had agreed upon the loan, although was unable to give any ideas as to the cost. The one thing he would give me was the above number - clearly a premium rate number - that he declared would cost £1.50 per minute, but - as I was "pre-approved" that cost would be given back to me.
It doesn’t take a genius to work out this is an outright scam. Even if this is a legitimate loans company - which I highly doubt - providing only a premium rate number is a terrible way to run a business.
My advice? Stay away from these people at all costs. My research suggests that people do not get the loans even if they call. There are suggestions online that this company - in some circumstances have returned the premium rate fee, but my guess is that the majority don’t get their money back. If only 5% complain, there’s still a hell of a lot of money for them to be making.

i applied with this company but i did not get to finish the call as i am pay as you go and run out of credit. i did give my sort and account number now regretfully after reading this! they did not try to call me back and i am now curious of what they are doing with my details… im not botherd with the cost of the call as that is my fault! but should i be worried about the bank details i provided?
December 11th, 2007 at 7:56 pm
Got money back for premium rate call, but lost around £150 for being “recomended” as 100% loan approval to other scam loan Co.s at £50 each time.Never got the loan of course.I see now how stupid I was when I actually believed them.P.S.to Daniel from November 21st. :I wouldnt worry that your details will be used in a bad way, more likely they will be passed to other scam Co.s(mine ended that way).
December 18th, 2007 at 7:47 am
Got a call from a man and 4 days later from a woman. Both claimed my loan application had been approved for £10k and I should call 09056753142 and someone would take a few more details from me and advise me on the APR and in a couple of days the money would be transferred to my bank account. When I commented on the fact that the number given is a premium rate number, I was told it will only cost £1.20 per minute. Obviously, I did not call because 1) I had not applied for a loan from Cash Finance Direct 2) Why would they call me then ask me to call a premium rate number? Why not just take my details when they got thru to me? It sounded like a scam straight up. These people are preying on the most vulnerable members of society and they should not be allowed to do this. Arent there any laws against this???
January 2nd, 2008 at 1:14 pm
I was called by Cash Finance but they said they are called as Horizons Loans at first. I told them 25k is not enough i needed 50k and I said bye.

I have just got off the phone to cash finance direct i added up the cost of the call, altogether it is £30:00. it never even crossed my mind that this comp might be a scam as i am homeless and living with relatives and a single parent i got desperate for a loan and didnt think twice about the o9o number…. now im a little worried, i thought if they were a proper company they would have a website but all i found was this website and a few others, slating cash finance diect. its comforting to kno im not the only one who fell for this, but it turns my stomach to think they are getting a way with this, will let u kbo if i get refund for call and if i get loan. be suspicious and be aware. nic x

These people are absolutely scandalous. My housemate fell for it and ended up with a £20 hole in the phone bill. They need reporting and they need to refund people its absolutely disgusting what they are doing.

unlucky i work for tht company :d
January 19th, 2008 at 4:23 pm
Unknown - that is unlucky. Please pass the general message on that people are dissatisfied with companies trying to scam them.
And I would humbly suggest a new job - a company with these unethical practices cannot be a good place to work.
Nicola - I really hope you get your money back, that is appalling.
January 19th, 2008 at 8:19 pm

I received a call this morning telling me I had been acepted for a loan and was given a premium rate number and a reference number. I rang the number and spoke to a woman who took my details including bank details. She told me to ring another number an hour later for an instant decision. I rang the number and was told that a loan company would be in contact in the next few days. Sounds like its definitly a scam and im annoyed at myself for falling for it. I did get another number for them though - 08717500500

I spoke to these people yesterday and foolishly thought that it could be the loan I was looking for I knew the cost would be high but they assured me that if I was dissatisfied I would get my noney back they have also said that three companies were willing to lend to me and that they would contact me next week to give me an offer they said if I has any queries I should ring there customer service line which is an 0870 number and never to call the premium rate number again. I the same went to see if I could get the website up and this is what I found. I am so disapointed in myselfr and if I am not contacted I will eb be making a formal complaint to trading standards and anyone else who needs to know. Iam gutted I really thought this as my chance of being debt free thats what Im more angry about.

March 17th, 2008 at 11:09 am
the phone rang at 9:53am, i answerd1 on the other end of the line, an english guy claiming to be from acompany called casfinance direct. he was striving to offer me a loan, i did recently apply for £5k, with a broker. ever since then i have answered endless calls to other companies which i have been passed to. Although this call was differnt, i asked him if there was aset up fee of in or around £50, he replyed no. i said whats the catch, he replyed we have approved your application for a loan, we have approx 40 lenders who have cash ready to be payed out. all i was required to do was call 09056753120 calls pmin chrgd @ £1.20, i would be refunded the cost of the bill. i asked his name, he replyed mike, i said no your full name. replyed mike spencer. he was really desperate for me to make the call rite away. i told him, if there was no set up fee, they would most def benifit on the cost of the call. What he didnt realize was i record all my calls. i have previously been researching into where and how companies like these actually work. all my complaints for calls and letters like these will be forwarded to trading standards agencies worldwide, bbc watchdog, fairplay and so on. companies such as themselves, gain access to ANYONES details through a large database on the web, info they can access is as follows: names, addresses, d.o.b, country of residence. these are added after registration on most sites, contracts, even when you vote. all these companies need YOU for is to gain access and recorded permission to have access to your bank details, with info like this. companies like these try their best to benefit, if not they sell your info to another company… so all the time they are making money. there was also a recent court case, in to wether banks should be permitted to chrging high fees, on late payments, overdues and interest rates… decisions are still in process. personally i feel that banks have yet been something to do with how and why OUR information has been generated and added to the PERSONAL DATABASE. my research will still go on, until all these companies come to a STOP… HAVE A NICEDAY! REMEMBER TRUST NO ONE.. YOUR INFO IS PRECIOUS

I am so embarrased to say I fell for this too. Matt - word for word my story is the same as yours, and many other peoples too. I have just contacted the Financial Ombudsman and Watchdog so we’ll see what happens, I also intend to send my bill away. I can’t believe I was so dumb, I had applied for a loan to a different company and thought this was related. I’m so angry, and worried for my details!
March 25th, 2008 at 7:12 pm
I was called earlier on to by a company called cash finance direct insisting that i had been accepted for a loan between £100- £25.000. I had already applied with another broker and been refused so I jumped at the chance of a loan. I was instructed to phone a premium rate number (09056753102). I phoned and was told that due to data protection my details had not jet been passed on to him so he needed to take my details again. Throughout the duration of the call I became more and more suspicious as, having made a number of these phone calls before, some of the questions seemed a little irregular. After 20 minutes on the phone he told me that all i needed to do was phone back within 1 hour to check the progress of my loan. Thankfully, when he askeed me for my bank details i withheld them. I’m more gutted at the fact that after viewing this website, i will never get my loan. Don’t fall for it!!!!!!!
March 26th, 2008 at 11:31 am
i have just had a call from them this morning, i have been in alot of debt for some time qand thought they were the answer to my prayers, i did not ring the number though but was very tempted im glad i looked up this website 1st, i have a bad credit rating die to identity theft and actually need a loan but cant get one so cfd ringing me wass like a breathe of fresh ait, these people need to be stopped, if we had money to waste on phone calls we wouldnt be appliying for a loan in the 1st place
March 27th, 2008 at 1:43 pm
i have just applied for a loan an they told me to ring this premium rate number wot should i do people? let me know
March 28th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
Just read everybody’s comments about this company. I had a letter out of the blue yesterday from Horizon Finance stating I had been accepted for a loan I applied for 2 years’ ago. Thought I’d check it out as I almost been caught out through our local newspaper when advertising something for sale. They sent me a cheque to cover the cost of shipping to Ireland, and as soon as I received their cheque, I should send the balance and arrange shipping. Luckily I suspected a rat, but the guy rang me constantly asking me to send the money on but I refused, stating I would not release any money from my bank until his cheque had cleared. Not surprisingly, 5 days’ later his cheque bounced and I’ve never heard from him since. Back to this letter, I’m glad I read the comments. I’ve a good mind to write to them to find out what else they know about me. As to money in general, I’ve noticed that nearly all shops have stopped accepting cheques, which leaves everybody wide open for cloning of personal details. The latest craze seems to be cloning cards through the actual machine where you enter your pin. I was recently stung at my local garage getting diesel. You really need your wits about you these days. Please please be so careful.

April 10th, 2008 at 9:09 am
I believe we should take advantage of their relative stupidity and wanton haste… you can setup an 070*… that pays you approximately 40-45p per minute. Get as many of these damn brokers to call as possible and keep them talking/arguing/providing details for as long as possible.
It’s one way of earning a few extra £
If they don’t hesitate to contact me on my mobile all hours of the day and night, they they aren’t going to think twice about another ‘070XX XXX XXX’ number!
April 15th, 2008 at 4:25 pm
send a bill to FREEPOST HORIZON you will get your money back if it was a scam they would get shut down by ofcom if you stay on the phone for 15 mins surely you would of asked if not they tell you if you have rang and have not got your money back they take it as you wanted to pay for the call
April 15th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
I have had atleast 6 calls from them in the last 3 days and last night I to fell for it and called them. I was on the phone for a total of 15 Minutes at £1.50 a min and then once I was given a reference number and told I would have to call back in an hour to another premium number to find out the decision the call was promptly ended.
I think I’ll leave well alone, in a week I have had my card details stolen and a friend of mine has with both of her credit cards, what is wrong with these people! Super P!ssed off….
April 17th, 2008 at 11:31 am
Oh god i just fell for it.
25grand credit card sounded too good and i just spent 20 minutes on the phone to some muppet who kept saying ” yes very good fine yes very good” after each detail i gave her.
Is this also a plea to keep me on the phone longer or was she a polish worker being paid £1 per hour to scam innoncent english people?
Utter discrace - ” this time next week you will have your card chris”
Yeh right.
Watchdog help
April 18th, 2008 at 6:17 pm
i dealt with cash finance direct in the past and they got my loan for me and then fully refunded the cost of the call for me by around 27 days!
April 21st, 2008 at 2:32 pm
Stace, I dont believe you! I believe all these people, the majority who have been ripped off by another unscrupulous broker. I got a call today. I was natually suspicious because I have been scammed before. I got my reference number from cfd and before I called the premium rate number, I googled the name and the rest is history. I wanted to get my own back so I set my mobile number as witheld and cold called them every five minutes for about 10 seconds. So everytime some one answered I just shouted back to them ” YOUR A SCAM” and nded the call. Childish yes but priceless!
April 30th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
i have also just had a call from cash finance and the first thing the woman on the phone said to me was that they had the money ready to go into my bank as soon as i give them the rest of my details, they didnt even know how much i wanted and didnt even applly for a loan with them it was for another company, but have been called about 20 times a day for the past 3 days by strange numbers. i googled them and came across this site. thank goodness i read this site. when i got the call and as soon as they said cash finance i just laughed, let them talk a little and put down the phone, thanks so much to this site i wasnt taken for a mug.
May 2nd, 2008 at 9:58 am
I received a text message yest from one of these companies saying that they could find me a loan to clear my debt and reduce my monthly payments - i rang them on an 09 number which cost £1.20/min. I was on the phone for 14 mins. They then said i was to call back on a different 09 number in an hour where i would be given an instant decision. So i called back as advised (this was £1.50/min) he went over all the same details as in the first phone call - very slowly - so as to drag the call out. I was then told 3 companys had accepted me for a loan subject to status and they would be in contact soon. This was a complete scam as i did not get an instant decision. And i was on the phone to them for a total of 30 mins!!!!! An extra £39 in call charges which i cannot claim back for atleast 6 months as this is apparently their policy!
May 6th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
Doh!
They got me, but they are a genuine company. What you have fallen for is a kind of scam, but you can get your money back.
Rather than the sinister “they have your details”…oooooh! Don;t be daft and don;t give them your bank details over the phone. If you do call, send them the bill with your 090 number and get the cash back - if you don’t get the cash back - lesson (expensive one I’ll give you that) learnt!
The reson brokers use these numbers is simple. All the money they get earns interest while it’s in their bank. Even if they gave back all the money to everyone, they’d makes thousands a day in interest (hence the 28 day waiting period - get it now?) They also rely on people not sending their bills for a refund (as most of us are lazy like that - me included)
So yes, it’s unsavoury and prays on vulnerable people and yes I feel a little scammed, but I can get the money back using the FSA if needed as all brokers must register - as this one has. The fines they would incurre are astronomical - but do ask for their FSA registered details when using any loan or financial service - no reg number? Don’t use them. - oh, and check it out first…
Good luck folks!
May 7th, 2008 at 9:12 am

Kept getting miscalls from these kinda numbers - just googled it to find this site -
Cheers for the heads up guys, a bit of cash is pretty tempting right now
May 15th, 2008 at 5:58 pm
Just fell for the 1st part of this tonight after about 10 calls in 3 days - I also applied for a loan with another company and wasn’t offered the full amount so thought I could use them to get the rest of what I needed.
As some brokers have been sending letters asking for 30-40 upfront, the 20 phone didn’t seem to bad.
Didn’t give my bank dets when asked as it seemed dodgy and thought i’d check them out before making my “1 hour later” call.
Dont think i’ll be bothering with that
May 19th, 2008 at 2:40 pm
I too have just been scammed by these people, i stupidly rang the number they gave me as they sounded convincing - i just wish i had looked them up first and not wasted my money on a phone call. I am very concerned at now giving out my bank details!!
May 19th, 2008 at 2:56 pm
Me again, i have just contacted my bank and they should not be able to take any money from my/your accounts without they security number on the back of the cards and also the card number - still stupidly i gave my sort code and account number!! I feel so foolish by being scammed!!
May 28th, 2008 at 1:31 pm
I applied for a loan over a month ago and was turned down. Now I too am getting hounded 6 - 7 - 8 times a day. Most of them are foreigners and I just tell them I’m not interested and I just hang up. When CASH FINANCE DIRECT phoned, they spoke in a nice, polite, English voice … which was very convincing. I didn’t phone them back - and I won’t. But my question is: How can we get these companies to stop phoning us all the time?
May 28th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
I cant believe i have just come by this thread, i got a phone call saying i have been approved for a loan this morning and they gave me a number to phone back, i was really happy but thought i would check them out and came across this!
Wont bother now.
May 30th, 2008 at 1:51 pm
hi everyone i have had the same calls from this number above, but has anyone actually recieved a loan from these scammers???
May 30th, 2008 at 2:13 pm
Hi,
I’ve also been called today by Cash Finance Direct (or CFD as the caller kept saying).
I was told that I had been accepted in principal and just needed to give my bank details, for the money to be transferred.
All I had to do was call 0906 400 1880, oh and by the way, it was £1.50 per minute, but not to worry as this would be fully refunded if I just sent a copy of my phone bill to Freepost CFD.
Total scam - avoid at all costs.
June 9th, 2008 at 9:40 am
Hi,
Kind of silly really never applied for a loan just a research grant. Never trust premium numbers + NEVER GIVE OUT BANK DETAILS not even under pain of death.
Still waiting for my second call…
June 9th, 2008 at 2:44 pm
HI EVERYONE PLEASE READ THIS!
While i was in Uni i worked for a companie just like this one! THE IDEA IS SOMEONE CALLS YOU ABOUT A LOAN AND TELLS YOU YOU NEED TO CALL ANOTHER NUMBER.
THE OTHER NUMBER IS ANSWERED IN THE SAME OFFICE AS THE PERSON THAT CALLED IN THE FIRST PLACE.
THE FIRST PERSON EARNS MONEY BY GETTING YOU TO CALL THE SECOND NUMBER IF YOU DO NOT CALL THEY DO-NOT MAKE ANY MONEY!
LOANS ARE NEVER GIVEN OUT- MONEY IS MADE BY PEOPLE CALLING THE NUMBER AND/OR PAYING A £50 ADMIN CHARGE!
PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM!
i quit this job after my first day!
June 10th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
I have been getting these calls for about a week now. I got two of those get me to payday loans the other month but they are both paid back now. No need to call me again really, but i am constantly getting junk email, texts and calls now. HELP!
June 11th, 2008 at 4:09 pm

June 12th, 2008 at 9:15 am
In desperate measures, I was contact by Cash Finance Direct, as like everyone else, I was accepted and would be contacted in a few days. this did’nt happen, so I rang again to the premiun rate number to be told that if I hav’nt heard anything then I was unsuccessful and I can claim a refund for the costs of the calls, which I have just been billed at over £30.00. The address I was given was Cash Finance Direct, Freepost. then quickly hung up. Very distressed, as was relying on this loan.
June 18th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
Not sure how to add numbers but here it is:
08000470596
Registered to A Plus Surveys which believe is a front company gathering information for the intelligence services.
Silent calls or aggressive, rude request for name of occupants, address, status of those living at address. Very frightening and very severe interrogation.
June 24th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
i went with this company and got a great response got my loan in 10 working days, all you people who did not send them a copy of your phone, how do you expect to get a refund, send your bill to them i did and got a refund,
June 25th, 2008 at 6:34 pm
I applied for a loan through a broker and then had a call from Cash Finance Direct. I was stupid enough to give them my bank details and now I feel a bit miffed as to what’s going to happen next. Should I be changing my bank account?
June 27th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
i applied for a loan and they told me to phone this £1.50 a minute number. it was exacty the same circumstances as most of these comments but i did give my bank details and now i am really worried i need a loan and i got two children to look after i cant afford to pay that amount of money i really hope i get my money back for that phonecall and i dont know if i should change my bank details!!!!!!!! i dont know what to do. help!!! i am going to phone the watchdog and see what they can do for me . in the meanwhile should i apply for another loan or just leave it?
July 2nd, 2008 at 10:20 am
i intially applied but what put me off is that it was another call centre where they have people who do not speak english well and i got more furious by the minute as she could not understand what i was saying and was on her own agenda to push a loan thru! never answered the phone to them after that and they still ring 2 weeks later on a unknown number and on the 0161 number! why is there an ex employee giving out tips etc, sorry i just think that smacks of suspicion thats all!
July 2nd, 2008 at 10:21 am
by the way no offence to the comment about people who do not speak english well but it just infuriates me when i have to repeat myself.
July 3rd, 2008 at 12:23 pm

Iapplied for a loan with Yes Loans as they are a well established finance company however it is through them that my details have landed in the hands of these scam companies, asking me for the first loan repayment in advance which is clearly a scam to start with, after this has been paid they call and say that the processing fee has been accepted and the first installment will be double the processing fee. an APR of 120 was then discussed.
July 8th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
Andrew and all,
i also applied for loan with Yes Loans, the annoying thing was that they debited my account with administration fee up front and finally came round to say i was denied. my details was paased to many scamy loans companies, my phone has never stopped ringing since then. cash direct finance has been ringing in the last few days but i didn’t pick their call. today i finally picked and the whole the discussion about premium rate came up. it sounded too good to be true for me, so i decided to check google. so here i am. We should report these companies, even Yes loan to Financial Ombudsman Service. rather than just complain here on the site. I take the lead who will follow?
July 9th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
I too applied for a loan with Yes, and received a call from CFD today. Stupidly I passed on my details and I am due to give them a call back in an hour or so (which after reading this isn’t going to happen!).
Just wondering if that means Yes have turned me down for a loan (without informing me) and passed my details on? Also, I paid Yes a £50 admin fee- will I ever see that again?

Hiya, i applied for a loan on a website and received a phone call a few days later, it was a lovely lady on the other end asking me about my loan needs and how many cards iv got, and i was so relieved to hear that i could finally sort my money out by taking a loan out as id been declined before due to poor credit rating.
She sed that there were lots of loan companys that had approved me and all i needed to do was call this number and gave me a reference number. She also said that it would cost £1.50 a min but it would be refunded if i sent my bill and gave me an address.
She asked me when i would be able to call and i said im not sure as i work at an airport and its not a 9-5 job so i would do it as soon as i got chance, for the next 3 days i then had non stop phone calls of the same number which i ignored, at first not on purpose but then they started to bug me. That was when i first googled the number to see if i could find anythin out on them and this site came up. Then i had a different number contct me which i also didnt answer to because i didnt recognize it and suddenly they stopped ringing.
But now all of a sudden its like they have tagged my phone because whenever i use it i straight after keep gettin phone calls from them again, now with ANOTHER different number which i have just googled and its brought me back to this site.
If they had not bombarded me with calls i genuinly would have called them back on the £1.50 line. Im the type of person that if i walk into a shop and the sales assistant starts harrassin me i walk out so by them constantly ringing me just made me not want anything to do with them.
I am now trying to rack my brains about what info i gave this woman, Should i be worried?

I applied online 10th July for £5K., i was told to ring the 0906 number, i am a hardworking, singlemum of two, who needs a new car, and house renovation, i have been told to ring back in 2 days, then next day. was advised i can claim tel calls back if send in bt bill! (I am very wary)!!!
They rang today to let me know i have got the loan, and i was exited planning ahead even before the call ended! i was told to again ring 0906 numbver to discuss APR, repayments. wen i rang, they told me, dont know why you were asked to ring this number. i will go and speak to my manager, she will ring you staraigh back!” that was 3 hrs ago!!
PLEASE STAY CLEAR, THEY ARE A MONEY MAKING POLISH SCAM MAKING PROFIT RIPOFF MERCHANTS! i have made three calls totalling 60.00! i will try to claim back when i get my bill! will let u guys know…..
July 15th, 2008 at 6:22 am

July 16th, 2008 at 9:12 am
I used to work here but I left as it dawned on me that what they do is so unethical!!!! However It is a legitimate business and a small handfull of people are helped but the majority have already been refused by the lenders cfd use! Namely welcome finance! I would advise do not ring these 090 numbers however desperate you are, and that refunded Phonebills are a myth!
July 18th, 2008 at 6:01 pm
I applied for loan in yes loan. After a few days some lady called me saying I am aproved for loan, my money is ready I just need to call 09064008185. The cost of the call will be returned, I went straight on internet and found this page. It seems it is the same scam, but the number has been changed, be aware!
July 18th, 2008 at 6:06 pm
And another thing the lady called me up from mobile number: 07790410481

Listen matey I am Polish myself and would you please stop ofend me. It is nothing to do with “polish workers scamming innocent english”. I bet that at the top of it is some english bloke, who lays down on the beach in spain all days.
July 21st, 2008 at 7:04 pm
Hi Everyone
Thank god I came on here before I made the call.
Can I please say first that I was spoken to by an english woman and she knew exactly what she was doing. Please people dont offend other races, unfortunately its the english scamming the english and anyone else vunrable in Britain.
Ok off my soap box..
I also applied for a loan, but it was with Welcome Finance, Which I have now been told own Yes Loans also.
Yes loans contacted me and said I had been approved but needed to send a fee first.
I asked if this was refundable and the TIME SCALE they have to abide by, by law to return this if I did not get a loan.
Im not sure if this is 6 mths or 12 mths but as soon as I said I was not prepared to pay a fee up front he was not very happy.
I have now tonight had a call from CFD.
Luckily for me this lady was not great at her job and was giggling to one of her work buddies while on the phone to me. She asked me some very simple questions and then said could I phone this other number 09064001874 but could I do it about 7.30 pm as he would be back there by then.
Thank god I got an idiot who rang me.
She phoned me on 07790410481.
The other 0906 numbers are the extensions for the work buddy they are working with that night. Pretty easy to work that out.
Shamefully as she did state that it was £1.50 per min and never actually offered me a loan this is legal.
Yet another loop hole being taken advantage of.
I am awaiting the next 5 thousand phone calls
July 23rd, 2008 at 1:05 pm
hi, numbers have changed and tactics
about a year ago i was garenteed a loan and would i give a £50 desposit for broker fee’s, i immediately picked up on this, and refused saying that i would not pay any fee until i had been given the money for the loan. i wasnt contacted further after this
until this year, i have been searching for a loan, and was called by CFD today, saying that i had been accepted for a loan please phone 09064001877 premium line 1.50/m and that the cost of the calls would be refunded if i sent a copy of my bill, with the numbers highlight and a covering letter to Freepost CFD, i was asked to phone an hour later, to 09064001800 which i did,
i have now been left to wait for loan companies to ring me within 5-7 days, they have commited fraud i believe because they have taken money by deception, it would be no different to buying an item online paying immediately and never receiving the said product.
the implied acceptance for a loan wasnt true, i havent im waiting for decisions now, i realise this is a scam but to allow this to continue makes a mockery of our judicial system, if its business its ok? and the whole reason im going to backstreet vendors is because our system allows companies you are contesting debt with to take your name to court without you knowing it is happening, get a CCJ against you, which then ruins your credit rating! And i still remain adament that i do not owe the money they say i do! its a disgrace
July 23rd, 2008 at 9:38 pm
if CFD is also known as horizon then they stay in the same building with best 4 loans cos the address i was given is
Operated by
Horizon Finance Limited.
Floor 7,
Dale House,
Tiviot Dale,
Stockport,
SK1 1TE
i believe they are the same and scammers cos i paid the administration fee over 4 months ago and i ve not heard anything
July 24th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Well its disapointing to come onto this site an realised ive been ripped off so much,im more annoyed cos we apply 4 these loans 4 a sodding reason, not 2 just get in more money problems why we doing it,like others i applied 4 a loan an got told i had been accepted by this company an then 2 ring them back in an hour which like a mug an spare of the moment thing i done,im now left with an £80.00 phonebill which they said 2 send off to them an i will recieve a cheque, but obviously i now know its all a con an theres no point in me even sending my phonebill off,im am totally disgusted that these arseholes can do this an continue 2 get away with it for all this time….surely something can b done about this,im agreeing with WATCHDOG how do we go about that cos im so annoyed that they can do this 2 such innocent people ….:-(…..
July 30th, 2008 at 7:33 pm
yeah well i just joined this compant to work for them on monday and to be honest they seem realy legitimate
fair enough premium rate phone numbers arent the most professional way to do business but thats how we get thorugh the credit crunch - garunteed income for the company
end of the day its cheaper than most admin fees

August 4th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
I have tried to look for a loan and well I have been through the same as most of you….
CDF - first loan/broker company I’ve ever contacted - they said they were a broker company, and I’d get the phone call refunded if I sent a copy of my phone bill in the mail to cdf. Now, I asked him if it was any more than cdf to this address to which he replied a no, and this got me thinking…only by then I had given him my details :/
They said they’d get back to me, but I never heard from them.
I have not sent my bill in the mail, I’m not giving them even more details about me!
Another company: loans4u. Scam as well….found out too late….
Horizon Finance - scam.
I entered an online application but was told I had to send in my details on the form they sent me. I still filled in the online form to which they still said I had to do it in writing. Hmmm, I will not give away my signature like that so - nope, sorry mac, no written application from me!!
What is interesting tho, is what ’sam’ up there says, that Horizon and cdf have the same address….well, so does the company MyWH.co.uk!!
Only they are on the 3rd floor!!!
I had a txt with a ref number which took me to a profile online….unfortunately I tried to pay the brokers fee, it didn’t accept, but they probably have some kind of system that records the details :/
When I tried to phone them, I was waiting forever to get thru and eventually hang up cos I never got to talk to anyone.
On ‘my profile’ online it says I can request a call back, which I did, they never called. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!
I have tried to get under the skin of more of these DISHONEST-NO-NAME-BAD-ENOUGH-FOR-THESE-PEOPLE and I have revealed several.
THEY ARE A DISGRACE TO THE HUMAN RACE!!!
If anyone working for these scam companies are reading this - I HOPE YOU KNOW HOW PROUD YOU’D MAKE YOUR MOTHER HAD SHE KNOWN WHAT YOU’RE DOING!!!!!!!!!!!
(now, that was ironic, you wouldn’t really make her proud! In case you didn’t get the irony…..)
August 5th, 2008 at 10:31 am
I just received a phone call from 0789968837 advising me that my details had been passed on to them. Sounded pretty dodgy so I was a bit wary and only gave a few details. The guy that I spoke to didn’t seem to know what I was applying for a loan for, or even how much money I wanted. I was then asked to make sure that I rang a premium rate number before 12pm. It’d be refunded if I wrote to “CFD, Freepost”. Obviously this all seemed a bit suspect, so googled the company and ended up here. I am so glad that I did not ring the premuim rate number. CON AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
August 6th, 2008 at 2:07 pm
I applied for a loan with yes loans on friday and after going through all the questions was then informed about a £59 admin fee, well me being plenty blunt asked if she was offering me a loan for £2500 (apparantly i’d already qualified for the loan at this stage) why don’t you deduct it from that, well she then back tracked and said “we are only the brokers and that is our fee.. What a load of crap i informed her and slammed the phone down
Anyway this morning some twit called Steve from Cash Finance rang saying i had been accepted for a loan, to my amusement he then asked me what is the amount? well i smelt a rat straight away (if i’d already been accepted why doesn’t he know the amount) so thought i will play this scum bag at his own game, i said it was for 2500 i then kept him waiting for 10 solid minutes to see how persisted this dirt bag was so after i’d watched the remained of Jeremy Kyle i slowly pick up the phone and was then asked by my new friend Steve-o what is the loan for it’s to pay for court cost against some charlatens who prey on the poor, his voice changed instantly and he promptly slammed the phone down…
I have now forwarded the 0161 number to a website that will send the number to Nigerian scammer’s who will then in turn waste they time and constantly tie up the phone lines….
Honestly i hope know one falls for this con trick, and remember if you have to pay first for a loan surely it’s a con
Someone should get onto they local MP about this because it’s a f**king liberty and some fat ba*tard is getting away with it!!
August 7th, 2008 at 1:19 pm
I applied for a loan with Yes Loans, but was told there would be a fee to pay, I am certainly not going to pay money to get money!! So I told them I wasn’t interested, they then passed me to someone who tried to sell me dental insurance, I again said I wasn’t interested. Since then I keep receiving text messages from them saying I have been accepted for a loan, they don’t seem to get the message.
Then today I got a call from a mobile number, someone called Danielle from Cash Finance Direct, I told her I was a bit confused as I hadn’t applied with them. She advised that there isn’t a fee, and gave me a premium rate number (0906 400 1854)to call. Luckily I suspected something wasn’t right and looked on the internet straight away, and I found this site. Needless to say I won’t be calling them back.
I really feel for people who are so desperate to get a loan that they will do anything, including falling for discusting scams like this.
August 8th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
My wife is another one who applied through YES and ended up getting the 09064001800 number to call. As my wife is American she had difficulty understanding the person on the phone and was on for 14 min 59 secs at a cost of £38.65 then the phone back in an hour for 9 min 59 secs at a cost of £25.78 and the admin fee of £59.50 that YES took and still no loan.
Is anybody else on here a member of the consumeractiongroup ? I am but cant seem to find a thread on this lot.If they can get £ssss back from the banks them this crowd should be easy meat for picking.
Awaiting Comments..Lets get them..
August 9th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
I too recently applied for a loan with Yes Loans and after being declined, started getting calls from CFD. I was suspicious about the fact that the person I spoke to didn’t seem to know any details about the loan application so didn’t go as far as ringing the 090 number but it is so annoying to think that these people can sit there and go through this charade and all the time the main objective is to rip you off by ringing the 090 number. The number I was originally phoned on (07899688367)seems to be a mobile number. All I can suggest is that every time you see an advert or promotion that says ” do you want to know more about this product” or anything like that—well, there’s a number you could use! These people are apparently legal but nonetheless total scum. I look forward to their next phonecall!
August 13th, 2008 at 2:00 pm
Just had aphone call from gillian at cfd..
i have 2 refernce numbers for a loan and have been charged on my phone £35.
I am taking legal action against the company for giving false information.
I will be sending numerous letters to the so called Freepost CFd and if no reply is sent within 14days or a phone call i will do the same to them by getting a credit company to chase them for funds!!
I hat these fuc**ng companies!!
August 15th, 2008 at 5:21 pm
PHEW! Thank goodness I did some checking up. I made a loan application to YES loans due to credit problems, and keep getting calls from, what would seem to be, a mobile number:
07899 688367
The first time I answered, it was a male who said that my loan had been approved and if I gave my Bank details, then could arrange to deposit the money in to my account. At the time I could not speak as I was at work, so I asked him to call back later.
Since then, I have missed several calls from the same number. When I call the number back, it gives details of Horizon Finance, but when I get the call, I get a different company name (Cash Finance Direct).
I am so glad that I have found this site when making my enquiries - I will now be very, very careful (am slightly disappointed that I am no nearer to getting the £2k loan I needed, but at least I’m not losing loads of money on a premium rate phone call now).
Thanks everyone!
August 18th, 2008 at 6:10 pm
Well, i feel gullible now…
any suggestions of a list of fake companies and real ones? this is my first time trying to get a loan with bad credit…
August 19th, 2008 at 8:05 am
I applied for a loan via an on line broker around a week ago and have lost count of the amount of calls I have received from no less than 4 different companies advising that I have been ‘pre approved’ for a loan.
The most persistant have been CFD. I received a call from a West Indidan guy last night from CFD advising that funds were waiting to be transferred into my bank account (without signing a thing?), all I had to do was call an 0905 number which would cost me £1.50 a minute, however not to worry about that as it would be refunded.
Immediately I thought this was strange, the guy TOLD me I WOULD call straight away and asked me to repeat the 0905 number back to him along with a reference. I told him I had no intention of calling a premium rate number from my mobile, but would consider calling the following day from a landline. They guy was clearly irritated by this and lost his ‘friendly manner’!
I thought I would check them out on line before taking it further, and I’m so glad I did! Clearly this is a scam, beware people! Just because we may have a bit of bad credit doesnt mean it gives these shysters the right to take advantage of us! Dont fall for it.
August 20th, 2008 at 11:48 am

WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING
YES LOANS ARE ONLY A BROKER
Anybody caught with the 0900 number go here and complain (not sure if i`m allowed to put in web address)
www.phonepayplus.org.uk/consumers/complain/default.asp
August 21st, 2008 at 12:33 pm
Well, since receiving another load of calls, which I now refuse to answer, I have received an application form from YES Loans. Turns out, they had ‘accepted me as a client’, when in fact I had been told over the telephone that I had been approved for a loan.
Turns out, they are JUST a Broker! (correct davmun) And were willing to accept me, another mug, willing to go to any length to get a loan. They want £59 off me to go searching for someone who will lend me some cash. DONT THINK SO MATE! Since then I have been bombarded with phone calls asking for my long card number in order to start the process!!! They must think I was born yesterday.
Also, I read their terms and conditions and was APPALLED to discover what they intended to do with my personal details. All they wanted was my signature and BINGO! I’d be another sucker whose details would be passed/sold/given to every scam artist in the land, and beyond.
Please people, if you are reading this, then some dodgy loan shark or broker has roused your suspicion to make you come here! Follow your gut instinct! If it sounds too good to be true, guess what, it is. Dont fall for it. I’m hoping all these calls will eventually fizzle out, I’m just glad I havent given out my bank or card details. Dont be fooled.
August 21st, 2008 at 10:45 pm
Hi, There, I’ve done the same, and all I same to get now is phone called from Horizon, Central Capital, and other company. I was stupid enought to give my bank details what a fool. I’m just going to give them rubblish now when there call me back. And will go to see my bank.
August 22nd, 2008 at 9:28 am

August 24th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
How sad and amazing that we (in real need for cash )gets thru this F… Spy-thief web. I am also very very gutted. In my case, I have failled 3 times calling those 0900 numbers. A bill of £ 57.00, which is not helping. As we all learn from our own experience, we can all see that we must learn and know how to protect ourselves from those Spies and Thieves. Soon, as I will be well-off I intend to get those companies at the game. They wont ever cold call honest people like us. I am going to get by any means my money back from Horizon Finance. And will never deal with stockbroker and lenders online any more. Lets dealing face to face when it comes to money or nothing !
August 26th, 2008 at 9:24 am
Well the phone calls have now stopped! I have also received 2 loan offers in the post. One of which seems pretty reasonable. My advice - ignore the calls, and wait to see what lands on your doorstep! That way, you also get to read the small print and suss out the APR. Its just a shame that people seem to get ripped off first, then find this site to discover that they may have been scammed. Beware, and dont give out bank details!
August 27th, 2008 at 1:43 pm
The calls havent stopped …. getting VERY annoyed! E mailed YES Loans, told them what a shower of Sh!te they are and to stop calling me. We’ll see! Today - 8 calls so far and 4 texts. JOKE!
August 27th, 2008 at 4:29 pm
I applied for WHunsecured loans after being ripped off by YES and have paid the admin fee of £44.80. Havent heard back from them yet, should I be worried?

Not sure if these regulations will help anybody………
The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008
Misleading actions
5.—(1) A commercial practice is a misleading action if it satisfies the conditions in either paragraph (2) or paragraph (3).
(2) A commercial practice satisfies the conditions of this paragraph—
(a) if it contains false information and is therefore untruthful in relation to any of the matters in paragraph (4) or if it or its overall presentation in any way deceives or is likely to deceive the average consumer in relation to any of the matters in that paragraph, even if the information is factually correct; and
(b) it causes or is likely to cause the average consumer to take a transactional decision he would not have taken otherwise.
WOULD THIS APPLY IF A COMPANIES NAME IMPLIED LOAN AND THEY WERE A BROKER ?
THIS PART MIGHT APPLY TO THE PHONE CALLS
Aggressive commercial practices
7.—(1) A commercial practice is aggressive if, in its factual context, taking account of all of its features and circumstances—
(a) it significantly impairs or is likely significantly to impair the average consumer’s freedom of choice or conduct in relation to the product concerned through the use of harassment, coercion or undue influence; and
(b) it thereby causes or is likely to cause him to take a transactional decision he would not have taken otherwise.
(2) In determining whether a commercial practice uses harassment, coercion or undue influence account shall be taken of—
(a) its timing, location, nature or persistence;
(b) the use of threatening or abusive language or behaviour;
(c) the exploitation by the trader of any specific misfortune or circumstance of such gravity as to impair the consumer’s judgment, of which the trader is aware, to influence the consumer’s decision with regard to the product;
(d) any onerous or disproportionate non-contractual barrier imposed by the trader where a consumer wishes to exercise rights under the contract, including rights to terminate a contract or to switch to another product or another trader; and
(e) any threat to take any action which cannot legally be taken.
(3) In this regulation—
(a) “coercion” includes the use of physical force; and
(b) “undue influence” means exploiting a position of power in relation to the consumer so as to apply pressure, even without using or threatening to use physical force, in a way which significantly limits the consumer’s ability to make an informed decision.
THIS IS ONLY MY INTERPITATION OF THIS. SOME PARTS MIGHT BE WORTH QUOTING IN E-MAILS/RECORDED LETTERS
August 28th, 2008 at 7:02 am
Charlotte, YES take the admin fee to search for a lender on your behalf as they are just a broker, not a lender. The feedback on here varies, some people have got a loan via YES and some havent, personally I dont rate YES, they seem un professional and have given me conflicting advice on a number of occasions, however I dont think you need to worry unduly. Most of us here have applied via YES or a similar organisation as we are sub prime borrowers in an unsteady market, therefore its to be expected that we have to faulk out somewhere along the line. I hope YES do find you a lender.
August 28th, 2008 at 10:42 am

DEB
Did they tell you how much the 0906 number was costing you.
From phonepay plus website.
Our job as regulator is to help you if you’ve experienced problems in a number of specific areas. For example, if you have a complaint about:
the promotion or advertising of a service (for example the cost of the call wasn’t stated, or misleading claims were made in the promotion)
the actual content of a service (for example you came across offensive content or the service was unnecessarily long - and therefore expensive)
If not please put in a complaint on the phonepay plus site

yes they did say £1.50 per minute refundable from freepost cdf my husband spoke to them as soon as they give him another 0906 number to ring in an hour i said no thats a money making scam(im not that gullable)but had i not been there he would have rang back, this looking for bad credit loans is upmost waste of time esp. as all the ones we applied to are all welcome finance on our credit files, ten of them!!! at the beginning of each call i have asked do you charge a fee up front some have said yes and i have said not interested, but some say no then 3/4 way through conversation they ask for debit or credit card i say havent got one and what do you need it for?they reply for the fee isnt there anyone elses card you can use? yaeh right!!!there all scammers

For those who are struggling with obtaining a loan, FLM seem pretty decent www.flmloans.co.uk, you need a guarantor though. Great if you can get one. I’m in the process of obtaining a loan with them and so far, havent had any problems. There is also a forum which provides feedback from customers, of course, there is gonna be some negative but there is more positive stuff on there.
They will lend up to 3k depending on circs, my APR is 36% which isnt great, but better than some I have come across. I’ve been offered 2k at £100.64 per month over 3 years. Worth a look and there are no up front fee’s, or broker fee’s if you go direct. Let me know what you think.
I’m still surprised so many people are falling for the £1.50 per min phone calls. Utter scam and nothing more. Spread the word! The more people who are aware, the less they can scam out of us.
September 1st, 2008 at 3:19 pm
yes lisa your right flm did offer us 3k but we needed a guarantor who was homeowner didnt kw anyone so ripped up and threw away but im sure i read the smallprint and there was an acceptance fee of £300 could be wrong? im giving up and have to wait few years until credit rating back up!!!

i have just had a call from someone asking me to call this number, which i did because i needed a lone, but i didnt realise was a premium rate number and i cant find their address on the internet of where to send my bill to get my call money back. can anyone help me out please? im also disgusted (and i will add NOT racist) that they never have people who can speak english well, i am hard of hearing and find speaking to people over the phone difficult enough as it is but when rude people with accents talk quietly and quickly so you cant undersand them that really infuriates me. so can anyone help with that address? thanks.lucy.

Just recieved my phone call from CFD and told to call the premium number! Apparentley my loan has been approved (it has even doubled from the £3000 i originally applied for) impressive eh?! Thought id do a bit of research first and this is when i discovered this website. Just want to say thanks to everyone who’s posted on here and send commiserations to those who got taken in by this scam! Just hope that most people have the presence of mind to have a little dig before they deal with CFD!

I sent the following e mail to YES as I was sick and tired of them pestering me every hour on the hour:
To: stop@yesloansuk.com
I have received no less than 30 text messages and phone calls from you in the past week, when the call is answered, there is no reply. The manner in which Yes Loans operates is ludricrous, I have called back on three occasions, each time staff seem totally clueless and very rude. At no point during any telephone conversation between yourselves and I, was it mentioned that you are simply a brokerage. For the sum of £50 you were willing to seek a lender whom would provide me with a loan.
I applied directly to Welcome Finance and was declined, on 3 occasions you informed me that my loan with them was ‘pending’ when I knew full well that this was not true and you simply wanted me to make payment of £50. I would urge you to view www.coldcallingdatabase.com, where you will see exactlly what the general public think of the manner in which you practice and companies like yourselves.
With IMMEDIATE effect I demand that you cease all contact with myself. My details are are follows:

This information has been sufficient for you to track my application, therefore you should have no difficulty in removing my details from your systems. I shall not hesitate to take my complaint to the relevant bodies should you choose not to adhere to my request.

I’m happy to say I havent heard a peep from them since! Perhaps peeople would care to try the same approach as it seems to have worked.

Hello well my coment is that is true that we can get loan accross to pepole in the outer world by online registration….Coz i have a friend who wants a loan from a UK company in is name and data from Nigeria but he can get hm self one is it possible…….Can he get may be you can help us out…Thanks you doing a great Job,,,
September 5th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
In response to your comment Dada, I doubt very much that you would be able to obtain a loan if you are not living in the UK, it is a requirement that you are a UK resident, not only this but a copy of a driving licence and passport are usually required also.
September 5th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
Very strange today no calls on house or mobile or texts, is this the calm before the storm.
