    With many thanks from Vinlai.com - here’s the first comprehensive list of numbers. I’ve got some others already in the database but sadly that won’t be accessible for a day or two whilst I finish the system, so here is a plain-text list!

      I have a nifty little application for my mobile phone called miexcuse, this handy little piece of software enables you to push a button on your phone to create a sound effect e.g. another phone ringing so you have a perfect excuse to get rid of the cold caller.       In response to Richard, Of course there a many ways you can make an excuse to end the call. But IMHO you cannot beat being direct. Two options are: Tell them you will report them to OFCOM if they call again. Or do like my Mum does, answer the call as if you are a receptionist for a big business, pick any high street chain. This technique totally throws them, for her it works every time, and seldom gets repeat calls. It helps to have caller ID so you know when to use the technique though. Good luck.

      Richard - an intesting idea! Sure it has many uses beyond just cold-callers - annoying customers phoning would be one!

      Just a quick question I have caller display (which is a god send get it) and i keep getting calls from the following two companies as it is displayed on the screen:

      01167023518

      and was wondering if anyone could shed any light on what these companies were as i refuse to answer them. Ironically when the answerphone cuts in they do not leave a message now if it was a genuine call from a genuine company surely they would leave a message?
      Also i got home the other day to a recored message from ‘john’ who said that he had some good news for me and all i had to do was call back on a 0845 number hmmmm needless to say that i did not as no doubt it was a con as my name was not mentioned it was a general message. Has anyone else received similar calls and has anyone called back (if so what blag did they use to sell you something?) Thanks

      In responce to Rischbrit i too have been receiving calls from 01167023518 on my mobile and refuse to answer it. I have tried to dial the number back from a land line and it says the number is not recognised - I too would love someone to shed some light on who it is as i beleive that seeing as they have tried several times and not left a message they are not a genuine company. Thanks
