Okay this is now revised: this is NOT just cold-calling, this appears to be a scam and possibly an illegal scam at that.
————————————————
Another one of their numbers: 0800 4220295 (08004220295, 0800 422 0295 or 08004 220 295)
Another annoying number: 0800 4220293 (08004220293, 0800 422 0293 or 08004 220 293).
This number has been consistently phoning as of late despite being on the TPS - this is a NUISANCE CALL!
Tell them to leave you alone and add other numbers relating to this company here please.

Loan Company Scams! Cash Finance Direct
Recently I applied for a loan - not to clear debts or ‘lower my monthly repayments’ but for a business venture I have going. And ever since then, I have been phoned, text’ed and e-mailed numerous times - with calls ranging from “We understand you have £xxxx debt, and we could lower your monthly repayments” … That “£xxxx debt” has ranged up to £15,000 (!!!) . I don’t actually have debt at all, so this was laughable! But, I got another one tonight that particularly ticked me off - especially as I’ve noticed many other people do fall for this…
Click here for the rest of the list
I was called by a company called "Cash Finance Direct" on 09056763191 (090 567 63191 / 09056 763191).
The person who called claimed that one of their loan companies had agreed upon the loan, although was unable to give any ideas as to the cost. The one thing he would give me was the above number - clearly a premium rate number - that he declared would cost £1.50 per minute, but - as I was "pre-approved" that cost would be given back to me.
It doesn’t take a genius to work out this is an outright scam. Even if this is a legitimate loans company - which I highly doubt - providing only a premium rate number is a terrible way to run a business.
My advice? Stay away from these people at all costs. My research suggests that people do not get the loans even if they call. There are suggestions online that this company - in some circumstances have returned the premium rate fee, but my guess is that the majority don’t get their money back. If only 5% complain, there’s still a hell of a lot of money for them to be making.

A nasty one? 08700668408
08700 668 408 (08700 668408) has already called me a few times and keep just hanging up. Calling them back - which I advise you DON’T do! - just says number not recognised (but this is there system advising me this, not my phone provider, I think… bad!).
My advice is don’t call them back - but do call your operator and make sure they are blocked if they persist. Companies like this should be banned from calling. Make sure you’re registered with TPS also, it’s extremely easy to do!

Another cold caller…
01517072125 (01517 072125) - from “Clear Contact” - an injury compensation company. The girl insisted it was not a “sales call” - but, of course, it is!
Guess what: If I have had an injury, I’d remember! And, if I believed I was owed compensation, I’d get in contact with someone! Thanks all the same!
I figured I should mention another call that we had a few weeks ago - from the “DFA” - Department of Financial Advisers. We were contacted by them trying to be sold a mortgage, and we listened - and probably gave one too many details that we’d like. Anyway, after the conversation, we were called back - repeatedly ! They claimed to be the DFA and also another company, but neither exist. They claim to be attached to a number of banks - but they’re not. The best I can see is this is a scam, and I would advice anyone against going with these guys. They will provide an address, if pushed, on “Regent Street” in London - but again, this doesn’t exist!
Oh, and they don’t obey the TPS. So do I want I did - play along, and along … and along … and then tell them what you know. They’ll most likely be oh so appologetic - but damn, why do these companies think they can get away with this?!

Debt-busting phone calls…
I run a business in IT, and was looking at starting another in a different sector, so was checking out the rates and availability of business loans. Naturally, I applied to a few places on the Internet specifically for business loans only!
Lo and behold, the next day I got a number of texts, from debt consolidation companies, no less! Including a couple of phone calls, which naturally I had no interest in - but clearly had already got my details in front of them.
Hopefully I’ll be left alone now, but I can’t help but think that I’m now on a list saying I want Debt Consolidation - and that’s a business area I’d rather avoid!

And another number - 01563 551351 (01563 551351) called, which apparently is a scam/mobile phone contract company. Ignore them! Do not phone them back, it just gives them grounds to call more!
This number is also not mentioned much online so hopefully this’ll help out a few folk! Let me know new numbers that aren’t already on the list!
As for the site - I’ve just moved house, business, etc - so I’m very busy sorting things out. As soon as I get a few hours I’ll continue on the database!

More numbers added today
Thanks to feedback from some of CCD’s visitors - and a few calls I’ve had myself - here’s a further list of numbers being added.
Whilst there isn’t a full database in operation I’m afraid that I haven’t listed where these calls come from - but they’re all the type of calls that you simply don’t want to phone back if you’ve been called from them - that’s for sure!

What do you do when you get cold-callers?
As the site’s getting listed on Google now, I’d like to welcome any new visitors to the site; please use this site to post any numbers that you get called by that you believe to be cold-calling - by that, I mean
Some companies will ‘cold call’ for legitimate reasons - they will obey the Telephone Preference Service (TPS); they will not continually call people; they will respect a simple ‘no thanks’; they do not call at bad ours of the day; and they do not use tactics such as calling random numbers and hanging up, in the hope of a call-back.
The companies that follow the moral and legal guidelines we respect - otherwise add them to this list!
Now - what do you do when you get a bad cold-caller?
I tend to get called (as I run a business) for advertising - I’ve now got accustomed to telling them I’m moving house! If they’re another type of cold-caller, it’s always a polite but firm “No thanks” and hang up. I know other people are more adventurous though - tell us what you do!

- Trying to sell you a mobile phone who’s not your provider …
- Calling without any prompting from you
- Calling you and hanging up before you get a chance to answer
- Anything which you consider to be bad practise in phoning.

Interested to hear your thoughts
I’d be interested to hear what people would like to see in the Cold Calling Database;
Any other things you can think of that you would like me to focus on?
Glad to see we have a few people coming here - and please do link to me if you feel this resource will benefit people! Happy to provide reciprocal links to those who want them!

- Do you have any particular desires for output? Would an XML output be handy for any of you with telephone systems? Or would you rather just having a big list you can search?
- Would some form of API for adding numbers (or retrieving numbers) from the database be handy? Such as “www.coldcallingdatabase.com/CheckNumber/01234567890” and “www.coldcallingdatabase.com/AddNumber/20349293993” ?

New numbers added…
With many thanks from Vinlai.com - here’s the first comprehensive list of numbers. I’ve got some others already in the database but sadly that won’t be accessible for a day or two whilst I finish the system, so here is a plain-text list!
If you’ve got other numbers, please do let me know (by e-mail or using a comment on this Blog) and I’ll add them to the list; even if you’re not entirely sure how bad the numbers are, the more people who report them the higher the rank of bad Cold Callers is!
